Neil Patrick Harris: Screwup at Video Games Awards

Posted in Uncategorized on December 15, 2008 by adnan47

The video game awards had some awesome, and somewhat ridiculous, moments today. Jack Blacks insane starting and overall hosting technique, the unveiling of a new teaser for God of War III(that clip took the meaning of teaser to a whole new level), GTA IV going biker gangs and all the top UFC fighters (Forest Griffon, Rampage, Rashad Evans and others) failing miserably as backup dancers for LL Cool J.

By far the most awkward moment was when Neil Patrick Harris showed up and did not have a clue about which independent game actually won the award. At first i thought it was all part of the ridiculous show that was being presented to us live. But when the announcer had to jump in and pronounce the winner for him, was when i realized that was a screw up own his part. It was a embarrassing and awkward moment but it played so well into the whole crazy theme of the awards that it turned out to be just plain hilarious.

OMG!!!! Warhammer 40k: Space Marine HACK AND SLASH

Posted in Playstation 3 on December 11, 2008 by adnan47

This is like a dream come true. I am a hardcore fan of Warhammer 40k and this game just looks kickass. There is a God and he heard my prayers. The savagery, the brutality and the bloodied chainsword, oh joy. I feel like a 12 year old on christmas morning. This is the video and its only first couple of months in development:

A defense of hack and slash/Action adventure games

Posted in Uncategorized on December 10, 2008 by adnan47

God of War, Devil May Cry, Viking: Battle of Asgard, Ninja Gaiden and even the Sands of Time series of Prince of Persia, all have the same criticism that they can be played with only one button. The implication is that there’s no creativity or skill in their gameplay. A friend of mine even told me that there is absolutely no need for using any of the 100 other combos from the combo list and that hack and slash style gamers are lowest skilled gamers out there.

Well most of these criticism come from gamers who just like to hold the fire button and strafe left and right with an occasional jump in between. These are the people who like hold down the accelerator and occasionally press the brakes button. These are people who like give out preset commands and watch them carried out by the AI, while having no control over the awesome maneuvers that their characters are doing. And i say to these people, go choke on a joystick. Read more »

More tips on SC4 Ivy; includes tips against online mistu and seigfred

Couple things i have now found – well more like i can now do since i have left the ranking of a beginner – that greatly improve my game play.

Again, I am going to explain use the numpad keys as form of a representation of directions on the controller. Therefore, 3A stand for lower right plus the horizontal attack.

First of all i found remapping the keys helps out exceptionally. I use PS3 so i map A+G to L1, B+G to L2, A+K to R1 and B+K to R2. This make moves a lot easier and does wonders with Ivy. The reason is 90 percent of ivy moves allow for change of stance when instead of inputting the command A or B you place A+K or B+K.

This leads to a whole new level of possibilities as you will realise there are some unlisted moves that occur because of switch in command. Example would be the Whip 6AA attack, where swings the whip and barrels forward with whip flaying everywhere. Another way to perform this attack is in coiled stance. simple press 6A,A+K, which will not only perform the move but also leave you in whip stance. It also makes for a great opener. Read more »

IGN rating Prince of Persia before release

Posted in Playstation 3 on December 1, 2008 by adnan47

Hoho that makes me jealous that those lucky son of a guns got their hands on the new prince of persia before me and ALREADY have the dang thing rated a week before its release. It achieve pretty good ratings, considering they completely revamp the game and threw the whole Persian theme and aspect of the game into its own tiny yet negligible. They even took out the Sand of Time that we have all come to love and adore specially when missed that dang super hard jump, wall-walk, jump grab rope, jump, swing on almost broken crossbeam again and again, jump, vertical wall-walk, jump flip and land on the floor 12 feet above you. It seemed stupid but Damn! did it look good. The acrobatics have been improved in this and the killing large masses has been transformed into a large number of highly stylized and unique one-on-one fights, which is what i am looking forward too that most.

The only thing that bugged me about the game was that they actually made the acrobatics part easier, which to me ruins the challenge and the edge of the game. Hopefully the combat will more than enough to cover this minute flaw.

Anyway here is the video, you may decide for yourself.
